Brian Encinia, the Texas state trooper who arrested Sandra Bland, was officially fired from his job on Wednesday (March 2). Bland was found dead three days after the arrest hanged by a bag in her cell, which caused controversy after Bland's family said suicide was "unfathomable."

Encinia was indicted by a grand jury in December 2015 on charges of perjury, as he was accused of lying about his encounter with Sandra Bland in July 2015. The state trooper claimed in an affidavit that Sandra Bland was "combative and uncooperative," which jurors later proved to be untrue.
